Plumber feeding a drain camera into a pit at a commercial unit

Medowie Drain Services

Every drain job here runs on the same gear and the same quote-first rule, whichever line has stopped:

Plumber running a drain camera at an outdoor pit

CCTV drain inspection

Footage before and after a clear, so the cause is on screen first and the clean pipe after

Plumber working a drain-clearing machine

Drain jetting

No chemicals, just a high-pressure jet scouring grease, sand and root cuttings off the pipe wall

Plumber laying new pipe in an open trench

Blocked sewer clearing

Every fixture slowing at once, gullies spilling, acreage septic connections

Plumber installing a strip drain beside a sliding door

Stormwater drain clearing

Downpipes, pits and yard lines on flat ground where rain has nowhere to go

Tree roots exposed around a pipe in a trench

Tree root removal

Roots cut back inside the pipe, and the split that let them in dealt with

Pipe relining equipment set up in a shower recess

Pipe relining

A new pipe wall formed inside the cracked one, with no trench through the garden or driveway

Why do drains block on this ground?

The local ground does most of the damage, and its three main weapons usually work together:

Roots

Eucalypts and melaleucas on the bush blocks hunt moisture, and a shifted joint on an older line is a doorway.

Sand

Fine sand washes into cracked pipes and unsealed pits, settling in the low spots and holding water in the line.

Groundwater

A shallow water table keeps a half-blocked line sluggish for months, then tips it into a full blockage in the first sustained rain.

Grease and flushed wipes finish the job in the kitchen and bathroom lines, where they coat the walls and narrow the pipe over time.

Every Drain Here Fights the Same Ground

Old lines and new lines fail differently

The acreage belt still carries earthenware from the early holdings, and every joint that has shifted is a root entry. The estate streets run newer PVC, but the sand under them migrates into any crack or poorly glued joint and silts the line from below.

This town is officially hard to drain

Council has had the town's drainage and flooding formally studied because the flat, swamp-hemmed country sheds water so slowly. What that means at your place is a drain with very little margin: a line that is only partly blocked can limp along through dry weeks and close completely the first big wet.

For overflow calls that need someone tonight, the emergency plumbing crew page covers what happens after dark, including sewers and septic systems spilling effluent.

From Your Call to a Clear Drain

The same four steps hold for a choked kitchen sink on an estate street and a boundary line out on a rural holding:

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Clear, then check

Jetter or eel first, then a camera run along the cleared pipe to show you what caused the choke and that it is gone.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What drives the price of a drain clear?

The biggest single driver is where the choke sits along the line, and the rest follows from what the footage shows:

  • Where it sits A gully trap just past the house is a short clear; a boundary line under an acreage lawn is a long run with worse access.
  • What the camera finds Smooth pipe wall after jetting means the job is done; a root-split or broken section turns the talk to relining.
  • Pipe material Earthenware and early PVC need gentler pressure than modern pipe, so the jetter setting follows the footage.
  • Timing A clear at night or on a weekend costs more than a weekday booking, and you know by how much before the jetter comes off the truck.

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

From the Review File

A drainage job, word for word:

They took the time to explain everything to me and not only checked the sub floor drainage issue and came up with solutions, but all the water flow of the house too.

When we're not the right call. A collapse in the sewer main past your boundary is fixed by the water authority, not a private plumber, and if the symptoms point there, that is where we send you. Council's stormwater pits in the street are council's too, though the lines on your side of the boundary are ours to fix.

Drain Trouble Questions, Answered

Do you clear drains on acreage septic systems around Medowie?

Yes. The pipe running out to the tank is a drain like any other, and roots and wet ground block it the same way. The jetter and eel clear it, the camera shows its condition, and any bigger fix is quoted before it starts.

Can the camera tell me what blocked the drain before anyone digs?

That is exactly what it is for. The footage shows roots, a collapsed section, sand build-up or grease, and you watch it with the plumber. A shovel only comes out when the footage shows a broken section, and even then relining may avoid it.

How do I know if the blockage is the sewer or the stormwater line?

Sewer blockages show up inside: multiple slow fixtures, gully traps overflowing, smells. Stormwater blockages show up outside: downpipes spilling and the yard pooling when it rains. If both happen together, ring and tell us which fixtures and which downpipes are playing up.

Is a flooded yard from a blocked stormwater drain urgent?

It can be. Water pooling against a slab edge or undermining a trench on flat ground should not wait, and in sustained rain it gets worse hour by hour. Ring and describe what is wet, and whether it needs someone tonight gets decided on that call.
